Job summary

Automated Logic, a Carrier Global Corporation company, is seeking a Field Engineer Intern to support startup, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance of building automation systems. The role involves hands-on work with pneumatic, electrical, and electronic technologies, and includes creating and updating As-Built drawings, testing equipment, and assisting with software commissioning.

Ideal candidates are pursuing an Engineering degree with a 3.0+ GPA, permitted to work in the United States

Qualifications

• Willingness to travel more than 50% of the typical work week.

Responsibilities

• Assist with startup, commissioning and re-commission of customer systems.
• Maintain accurate As-Built drawing package in Visio, Excel, Word.
• Calibrate systems using basic electronic test equipment.
• Assist in commissioning software programming (static and dynamic).
• Set up operator workstations with required software.
• Back up job databases daily and as advised.
• Support turnover to service and track project progress.
• Communicate with lead project personnel on-site arrival and departure.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with startup, commission and re-commission of customer systems that utilize pneumatic / electrical / electronic technology

• Assist with maintaining accurate As-Built drawing package and making changes in Visio, Excel, Word, as required

• Assist during calibration of systems requiring basic electronic test equipment, such as multi-meters, network terminals and/or a laptop computer

• Assist in static (stand-alone) and dynamic (total building interactive network) commissioning of software programming

• Assist in the set-up of operator workstations with all associated software

• Responsible for performing job database backups daily or as advised

• Assist with turnover to service

• Track and record job progress and keep lead project personnel informed on progress

• Keep project management appraised of concerns and issues

• Complete paperwork on time including time sheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on-site documentation and project status reports

• Communicate with lead project personnel upon arrival and before leaving the work site

Basic Qualifications

• Must be currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in any Engineering field.

• Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher

• Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship

• Possess and maintain valid and current Driver’s License and be insurable by our company’s insurance carrier

• Willingness to travel more than 50% of typical work week, mostly local travel and seldom overnight hotel stay

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic understanding of control logic

• Knowledge in DDC control theory and applications pertaining to the HVAC/Control preferred

• Prior experience in HVAC and/or Building Automation preferred

• Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment more than 8 feet above grade, and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs
