Job summary

Carrier Global Corporation's Automated Logic division seeks a results‑oriented Field Engineer Intern to contribute to building automation projects. You will assist with startup, commissioning, and testing activities while gaining hands-on exposure to HVAC control systems and networked building solutions.

The role requires pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering, a 3.0+ GPA, US work eligibility, and willingness to travel extensively.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in any Engineering field.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher required to qualify.
• Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
• Must hold a valid driver's license and be insurable.
• Travel willingness of >50% of the work week.

Responsibilities

• Assist startup, commissioning and re-commission of systems.
• Maintain accurate As-Built drawings in Visio, Excel and Word.
• Assist with calibration using basic test equipment.
• Support software commissioning for building networks.
• Help set up operator workstations with required software.
• Back up job databases daily and maintain records.
• Assist turnover to service teams and track progress.
• Keep lead project personnel informed of status.
• Document issues and concerns with project team.
• Complete timesheets and on-site documentation promptly.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with startup, commission and re-commission of customer systems that utilize pneumatic / electrical / electronic technology
• Assist with maintaining accurate As-Built drawing package and making changes in Visio, Excel, Word, as required
• Assist during calibration of systems requiring basic electronic test equipment, such as multi-meters, network terminals and/or a laptop computer
• Assist in static (stand-alone) and dynamic (total building interactive network) commissioning of software programming
• Assist in the set-up of operator workstations with all associated software
• Responsible for performing job database backups daily or as advised
• Assist with turnover to service
• Track and record job progress and keep lead project personnel informed on progress
• Keep project management appraised of concerns and issues
• Complete paperwork on time including time sheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on-site documentation and project status reports
• Communicate with lead project personnel upon arrival and before leaving the work site

Basic Qualifications

• Must be currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in any Engineering field.
• Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
• Possess and maintain valid and current Driver’s License and be insurable by our company’s insurance carrier
• Willingness to travel more than 50% of typical work week, mostly local travel and seldom overnight hotel stay

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic understanding of control logic
• Knowledge in DDC control theory and applications pertaining to the HVAC/Control preferred
• Prior experience in HVAC and/or Building Automation preferred
• Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment more than 8 feet above grade, and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs

Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $43,500.00 - $87,500.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. The pay range will not be below the minimum wage applicable to the jurisdiction in which the applicant is to be employed.

Other Compensation

Thisposition may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
