Job summary

Prism Maritime is seeking Field Engineers I and II to operate on naval vessel projects in San Diego, CA. You will apply broad electronics knowledge to support design, testing, and documentation, while assisting the Project Manager with task leadership and procurement activities.

The role involves standing in for engineers on assignments, performing site testing, and ensuring quality and safety throughout installation. Physical duties include lifting up to 50 pounds and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED may be required depending on varying contract stipulations.
• Level I/II requires engineering installation, modification, field change and testing experience per Military Standard procedures.
• Certification / Licenses: Cableway, Multi-pin connector, Fiber Optic connectors, Fire watch.
• Security clearance up to secret level may be required.

Responsibilities

• May assume leadership of subordinates.
• Assists in developing Installation Design Packages.
• Identifies problem areas and prepares reports and change orders.
• Assists in developing technical manuals and specifications.
• Identifies, analyzes, reports on, and corrects causes of failures.
• Researches and selects pertinent equipment/material.
• Conducts briefings and presentations.
• Conducts engineering, quality, and safety audits/inspections.
• Provides technical expertise on installation and production.
• Conducts pre- and post-installation testing.
• Provides project status reports including EVM metrics.
• Versed in Multi-pin, Fiber Optic, RF connectors.
• Overtime and travel outside local areas may be required.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in applicable field (Level I)

Associates degree + 4 years experience (Level I)

Non-degreed with 7 years technical experience (Level I)

Bachelor’s degree in applicable field (Level II)

Associates degree + 6 years experience (Level II)

Ten years directly related experience (Level II)
