Job summary

Upperline Health is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed with partner organizations, building and adapting technology solutions in the field to deliver value inside partner practices. You will work on-site and remotely, understanding workflows and rapidly delivering data feeds, EMR integrations, and patient-facing tools across boundaries.

The role sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and customer delivery, requiring travel to partner sites (25–40%) and strong collaboration

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering and customer-facing delivery
• Direct experience integrating with systems you do not control, including legacy interfaces
• Fluency with SQL and a modern data stack, with end-to-end pipeline ownership
• Ability to influence executive stakeholders and work with non-technical users to validate solutions
• Judgment to balance partner-specific needs with core platform configuration
• Willingness and ability to travel to partner sites (25–40%) and comply with privacy requirements

Responsibilities

• Establish data relationships with partners: data needs, sources, access, and freshness
• Build and operate interfaces: EMR feeds (HL7v2 ADT/ORU, FHIR, CCDA), eligibility and claims data, SFTP and flat-file integrations
• Solve patient identity and cross-system matching across heterogeneous systems
• Connect Upperline's platform to partner environments: identity, SSO, scheduling, clinical docs, messaging, reporting
• Decide integration strategy and defend it to multiple engineering teams
• Collaborate with Data & Analytics and Engineering to align with architecture and standards
• Extend and customize Upperline applications to fit partner workflows
• Write production-quality code across the stack in a regulated patient-facing environment
• Travel to partner locations for requirements gathering, deployment, and go-live support
• Observe intake, rooming, and checkout processes; train and support users during rollout
• Monitor adoption and iterate on solutions post-launch
• Serve as technical point of contact for partner leadership and engineering teams
• Define playbooks and reusable assets to accelerate future deployments
• Document solutions and hand off to core teams for long-term ownership
• Communicate progress and impacts to technical, clinical, operational, and executive audiences
