Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking a Field Engineer in Aiken, SC for our Projects Group. This full-time role supports DOE subcontracted projects with a focus on mechanical, electrical and heavy industrial construction.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical preferred) and 0–3 years in field engineering, with strong work ethic and team flexibility. Proficiency with P6/Bluebeam and CAD is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Build, estimate, and schedule mechanical, electrical, and heavy industrial construction with a diverse team.
  • Support administrative and construction activities; develop proposals, specs and drawings; perform material takeoffs; prepare cost estimates; attend pre-bid meetings.
  • Learn to supervise subcontractors and coordinate with vendors.
  • Prepare work plans; ensure quality control; manage costs and materials; schedule equipment; maintain owner relations.
  • Assist in interpretation of drawings and specs for field crews and supervision.
  • Perform quantity calculations by measurements and percent completion.

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Field Engineer opportunity in Aiken, SCfor our Projects Group.

This position is an opportunity for professional development and growth in a Department of Energy (DOE) subcontractor project office. The right candidate will be organized, flexible, able to manage confidential information, proactive, possess a strong desire to learn, eager to be a part of and support the team, and have the ability and disposition to multi-task with constant interruptions.

This is a full-time position with the following job scope:

Responsibilities include:
  • Work with a vibrant and diverse team to build, estimate, and schedule mechanical, electrical and heavy industrial construction.
  • Support both administrative and construction activities as assigned by supervisor; develop proposals, specifications and drawings, perform material takeoffs, prepare cost estimates and attend pre-bid investigation meetings.
  • Learn to supervise subcontractors and communicate with vendors.
  • Prepare work plans, assure quality control, manage and track costs and materials, schedule equipment, and maintain exceptional owner relations.
  • Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision.
  • Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials and work.
Qualifications and Job Requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical preferred
  • 0-3 years of field engineering or similar relevant experience
  • Strong work ethic — highly motivated and willing to do what it takes to get the job done right
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment
  • Familiarity with construction software such as P6/Bluebeam is a plus
  • CAD ability is a plus
  • United States Citizenship required
