Job summary

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking a Construction Discipline Engineer (Electrical) to provide technical oversight of field construction at Savannah River Site, with duties in design review, material take-off, procurement, and hazard analysis. The position is based in Aiken, SC and requires US citizenship.

Responsibilities include developing work packages, supervising field execution, coordinating with QA, and ensuring compliance with codes and project requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of construction electrical field engineering experience OR an Associate's degree with 5–10 years of experience OR a high school diploma with 10+ years of experience in construction electrical engineering.
  • Working knowledge of discipline specific codes and standards.
  • Experience generating work execution plans (Asset Suite preferred).
  • Experience generating job hazards analyses.
  • Experience performing material take-off and procurement.

Responsibilities

  • Design output constructability reviews: review design output and vendor documents; field walk-downs; verify constructability and code compliance.
  • Field material take-off and BOM development; track materials and deliveries; coordinate field delivery.
  • Develop installation sequences; create work instructions; generate inspection/test records; coordinate layouts/survey requests; assess hazards for field execution.
  • Review and approve work execution plans; manage routing and comments; assemble approved plans and status updates.
  • Lead pre-job briefings; verify quantities; provide field support; coordinate material testing and shop fabrication as needed.
  • Close work execution plan documentation and ensure proper permit closures.

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Construction Discipline Engineer (CDE)-Electrical opportunity to support the Savannah River Site.

Work Location: Aiken, SC

Construction Discipline Engineer (CDE)-Electrical

The CDE Engineer-Electrical will plan and provide technical oversight of field construction activities, including procurement, fabrication, installation, modification, and maintenance; Coordinate with Design agencies on new designs and design changes; perform constructability reviews and resolves field design issues; Inspect materials, equipment, and workmanship for compliance with drawings, specifications, codes, and project requirements; Coordinate with Quality Control to verify compliant installation and supports turnover activities; Support equipment/system startup, functional testing, and checkout; Develop computer-based construction work packages, including job-specific hazard analyses, using Asset Suite, Assisted Hazard Analysis, or equivalent; Apply Construction Engineering principles to field conditions and construction execution.

Duties
  • Design output constructability reviews: Review design output and vendor documents; Field walk-downs with design engineers; Verify design constructability including procedure and code compliance; Verify field conditions vs Design output; Verify material availability; Submit constructability comments; Track comments to resolution; and Support project team design review meetings.
  • Field material take-off & procurement support: Develop/expedite bill of materials (BOM); Track the progress/status of material delivery; Coordinate delivery of material to the field; Verification of received material vs. Ordered material.
  • Work execution plan development: Walk-downs with craft supervision & support groups; Develop installation sequence; Generate work instructions; Generate inspection and test records or coordinate with quality control; Understand layout/ survey needs and generate layout/ survey requests; Generate hazards analysis for field execution of construction scope Support/lead team hazard analysis review meetings. Generate or support the generation of job specific permits as required Lockout/tagout order; Power services utilization permit Hot work; Asbestos disturbance; Confined space Radiological Excavation; Hazardous waste.
  • Work Execution Plan Review & Approval: Attend/chair execution plan review meetings; Develop routing for list for hazards analysis approval; Develop routing list for work plan approval; Coordinate and expedite work package approval routing; Disposition comments to the work execution plan; Assemble approved work execution plan; Provide status & update of work execution plan in the SRS work control passport system
  • Work Execution Field Coverage & Support: Lead pre-job briefings with craft workers; Perform task ready walk-down with craft supervision; Verify quantities of installed commodities; Coordinate daily field support; Expedite /order material as required; Coordinate material testing; Coordinate and status shop fabrication in support of field execution; Perform field inspections; Identify and coordinate resolution of field installation issues.
  • Work Execution Plan Closure: Generate design completion notices; Ensure accuracy of work execution plan status; Close all required permits; Close work execution plan documentation.
Education/Skills Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and at least five (5) years of practical experience in construction electrical field engineering OR Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering and five to ten (5-10) years of practical experience in construction electrical engineering OR a high school diploma and ten (10) + years of practical experience in construction electrical engineering.
  • Working knowledge of discipline specific codes and standards.
  • Previous experience with generating work execution plans (preferably utilizing the Asset Suite work control system).
  • Previous experience with generating job hazards analysis.
  • Previous experience performing material take off and procurement.
