Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
  • 3–5 years of field engineering or similar experience are needed.
  • DOE project experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with construction software such as P6/Bluebeam; CAD ability preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build, estimate, and schedule mechanical, electrical, and heavy industrial construction with the team.
  • Support administrative and construction activities; develop proposals, specs, drawings, takeoffs, cost estimates, and attend pre-bid meetings.
  • Learn to supervise subcontractors and communicate with vendors.
  • Prepare work plans, ensure quality control, track costs/materials, and manage equipment scheduling.
  • Assist interpretation of drawings/specs for field crews and craft supervision.
  • Perform quantity calculations from measurements and completed work percentages.

Job description

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Field Engineer opportunity in Aiken, SC for our Projects Group.

This position is an opportunity for professional development and growth in a DOE subcontractor project office. The right candidate will be organized, flexible, able to manage confidential information, proactive, possess a strong desire to learn, eager to be part of and support the team, and have the ability and disposition to multi‑task with constant interruptions.

Responsibilities
  • Work with a vibrant and diverse team to build, estimate, and schedule mechanical, electrical, and heavy industrial construction.
  • Support both administrative and construction activities as assigned by supervisor; develop proposals, specifications, and drawings, perform material takeoffs, prepare cost estimates and attend pre‑bid investigation meetings.
  • Learn to supervise subcontractors and communicate with vendors.
  • Prepare work plans, assure quality control, manage and track costs and materials, schedule equipment, and maintain exceptional owner relations.
  • Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision.
  • Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials and work.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • 3‑5 years of field engineering or similar relevant experience.
  • Department of Energy (DOE) project experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong work ethic – highly motivated and willing to do what it takes to get the job done right.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide‑ranging climates and environment.
  • Familiarity with construction software such as P6/Bluebeam preferred.
  • CAD ability preferred.
