Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Field Engineer to actively participate in the management of construction projects, solving problems and applying basic construction management techniques on site. You will handle submittals, RFIs, and document distribution, while assisting with mobilization and turnover processes.

The role requires on-site work at Wisconsin projects within a 90-mile radius of Milwaukee, with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CM/CE/Engineering or related field.
• Prior construction site experience preferred.
• Current driver's license.
• Able to interpret blueprints and technical documents.
• Knowledge of scheduling and estimating basics.
• Proficient with MS Word/Excel/Outlook and internet.
• Capable of learning construction management software.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to build relationships and multitask.
• Active listening and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-construction support.
• Manage submittal and RFI processes through closure.
• Evaluate and distribute project design documents.
• Prepare team for site mobilization and research living arrangements.
• Prepare turnover binder templates and assist pre-mobilization meetings.
• Arrange short form subcontracts with local entities.
• Draft subcontracts and purchase agreements.
• Utilize Best Practice Database for SWIs and QA/QC docs.
• Manage QA/QC per Project Quality Plan and inventory.
• Coordinate DFW prep meetings, inspections, and punch list inspections.
