Job summary

Rudolph & Sletten in Menlo Park, CA is seeking a Field Engineer to join our office team. The role focuses on field operations, plan adherence, QA/QC, and accurate reporting of daily work, quantities, and documentation.

You’ll support project planning, coordinate with subs and QA/QC, and help ensure safety and quality on high-profile construction sites. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management or 2+ years field engineer experience; proficiency with Windows, Excel, AutoCAD;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management or four years of experience in construction management.
• 2+ years of Project Engineer experience working on projects in the field.
• Experience with large commercial projects is preferred, including healthcare, higher education, corporate campuses, justice, and science and technology facilities.
• Able to read plans, communicate effectively across multiple levels, manage competing priorities, and work successfully at project sites.

Responsibilities

• Interpret plans, specifications, designs, shop drawings, and submittals; verify control lines, elevations, installations, and completed work for compliance with codes and project requirements.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, field supervision, and QA/QC teams to understand scopes of work and resolve conflicts.
• Prepare, process, and maintain RFIs, field design change requisitions, as-built drawings, status reports, punch lists, sketches, quantity calculations, and other project records.
• Support project planning and controls through quantity takeoffs, schedule coordination, productivity tracking, and change order identification.
