Job summary

Blach Construction is seeking an entry-level Field Engineer in Northern California. You will begin as an apprentice in the field, developing carpentry craft over a four-year program while supporting the superintendent and project team in planning, safety, quality control, documentation, and cost awareness.

You’ll learn RFIs and submittals, plan reading, and coordination with foremen and PMs. This role emphasizes growth, safety, and hands-on skill development within a supportive Bay Area team.

Qualifications

• Completion of the carpenters union apprenticeship program.
• Willingness to work in field settings alongside carpenters and foremen.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with high accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic scheduling software.
• Ability to train and educate others.
• Proactive and solution-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Complete 4-year carpenters union apprentice program.
• Work with carpenters, foremen, and superintendents.
• Attend and complete required apprenticeship classes and field hours.
• Develop carpentry skills and learn basics of other trades.
• Maintain a safe work environment.
• Build relationships and respect from coworkers.
• Learn operations (RFIs, submittals, scope statements).
• Shadow Foreman/Asst. Supt./Supt.
• Learn each phase of a construction project.
• Gain general knowledge of plan reading.
