Job summary

Blach Construction in the Bay Area (San Jose, CA) is seeking a Foreman to lead field crews, coordinate self-performed work and subcontractors, and ensure work meets plans, specs, and schedule. You will mentor junior staff, uphold safety standards, and drive quality on site.

You will read and interpret complex drawings, manage look-ahead planning, and coordinate with the Superintendent to resolve issues and maintain progress toward milestones.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of commercial construction field experience, with leadership or Foreman experience preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of construction methods, materials, sequencing, field coordination, and site logistics.
• Mastery of advanced carpentry skills and ability to mentor others.
• Ability to read, interpret, and utilize full plan sets, specs, submittals, and drawings.
• Intermediate scheduling understanding and ability to communicate schedule impacts to leadership.
• Strong leadership, accountability, and safe work environment focus.
• Experience with field technology and construction software for daily reports and QA/QC.

Responsibilities

• Organize and lead daily field activities to meet safety, quality, and schedule targets.
• Supervise self-performed work and coordinate with subcontractors to ensure project requirements are met.
• Lead layout activities and verify accuracy of control lines, elevations, and benchmarks.
• Interpret plans and shop drawings to plan work and verify installations.
• Mentor carpenters and laborers to develop skills and performance.
• Monitor crew size and forecast manpower needs; manage resources efficiently.
• Use look-ahead planning to sequence work and align milestones with the schedule.
• Lead weekly safety meetings and enforce safety protocols on site.
• Coordinate with Superintendent and project team on RFIs, inspections, and punch lists.
