Velocity1 is seeking a Field Engineer to lead installations of AV, security, networking, and fiber systems at customer sites in the Southeast. You will install, configure, test, and commission complex setups and provide end-user training as needed.
The role demands strong communication, project leadership, and the ability to manage 1099 contractors while maintaining Velocity1 standards and safety compliance.
The Field Engineer serves as the lead installer on job sites, providing technical leadership, project execution, and mentorship. The primary responsibility for this role is to deliver, install, configure, test, and maintain a variety of Audio Visual (AV), Physical Security (cameras, access control, alarms, and various other product lines), Network, and Fiber cabling systems. This role requires excellent customer-facing communication and professional presence as you represent Velocity1 onsite with clients. Most work is performed at customer locations in the mid-state region, with occasional travel to neighboring states to support remote offices. The Field Engineer must be comfortable working on ladders and lifts and handling heavy equipment (e.g., large-format displays, racks, speaker cabinets).
In some cases, the Field Engineer will coordinate and work alongside 1099 contractors and third-party installers, ensuring all work meets Velocity1 standards for quality, safety, and compliance.

There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position. However, the engineer will be the lead on projects, supervising field techs, and contractors.
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. It will also require ongoing training to be able to support new technologies.
This job requires frequent driving to customer locations, working on lifts and ladders, and regularly lifting equipment over 50 lbs.
Regular work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 5:00 with a 1-hour lunch break. There will be occasional overtime needed, including evening and weekend hours required as we accommodate our customers’ requirements. Employees will be expected to report to their local respective office as this is not a remote work position.
This position will require up to 50% travel, including possible overnight stays when needed. Generally, travel will be throughout the Southeast, within the 9 states that Velocity1 operates in.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree. Educational requirements can be supplemented by experience.
This candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical field.
Preference will be given to candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in some form of technology engineering or a similar degree. Additionally, a CTS certification is preferred.
Further certifications such as RCDD, CTS-I, CTS-D, etc. will be considered.
A valid driver’s license is required.
Candidates must be able to pass background checks and obtain security clearances as needed.
