Job summary

Persons Services Corp in Houston, TX is seeking an entry-level Field Engineer to join our Infrastructure Group. You will support project managers on underground utility and heavy civil projects, gaining hands-on experience on site and in the office.

Ideal candidate holds a civil engineering or construction management degree with 0–2 years of experience; proficient with MS Office; familiarity with Procore, AutoCAD or P6 is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Recent graduates encouraged to apply.
• 0-2 years of experience in construction or internships is a strong plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Procore, AutoCAD, or P6 is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers and Superintendents with day-to-day field engineering tasks across underground utility and heavy civil infrastructure projects.
• Assist with layout, grade checks, and quantity verification in coordination with survey crews.
• Track and maintain accurate quantity take-offs, material logs, and as-built documentation.
• Prepare and process RFIs, submittals, and change order documentation.
• Maintain detailed daily field reports, photo logs, and progress documentation.
• Assist in reviewing plans, specifications, and shop drawings for accuracy and constructability.
• Support Quality Control efforts, including inspections, testing coordination, and documentation.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to track deliveries and field progress.
• Assist with scheduling updates and support development of CPM schedules.
• Champion our safety culture by participating in JSAs, toolbox talks, and daily safety practices.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (recent graduates encouraged to apply)
• 0-2 years of experience in construction, internships, or co-ops considered a strong plus
• Genuine interest in heavy civil, underground utilities, or wastewater treatment construction
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Procore, AutoCAD, or P6 is a plus
• Eager to learn, coachable, and comfortable working both in the field and in an office setting
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to work on active construction sites in varying weather conditions
