Job summary

PCL Construction Services, Inc. in Denver, Colorado is seeking a Field Engineer to join our team and contribute to project inspections, documentation, and coordination with the field and supervisory staff.

The role emphasizes safety, quality, and timely delivery, with opportunities for growth through PCL’s training programs and development pathways. A related degree and up to one year of field experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field.
  • 0–12 months field engineer/coordinator experience; internships count.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, formwork, self-perform work, subcontracted work scopes, temporary work, equipment, and scheduling techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and lead inspections and orientations, enforcing health and safety practices.
  • Coordinate with the superintendent on workforce planning.
  • Maintain project document control and support RFIs, shop drawings, changes and billings.
  • Supervise self-perform scopes, including labor tracking and LCR quantities.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with partners.

Here’s how aField Engineer for PCL Construction Services, Inc. within Denver contributes to our team:

Responsibilities
  • Mentors and leads inspections and orientations, identifies hazards and corrections, and leads by example for health and safety practices and procedures.
  • Coordinates with superintendent on workforce planning.
  • Maintains project document control and procedures. Supports project engineers and/or superintendents to lead trade contractors, including requests for information (RFIs), shop drawings, changes, and billings.
  • Participates in the supervision of self-perform scopes, including resolving crew sizes, labor tracking, and quantity tracking for Labor Cost Reports (LCRs).
  • Mentors and coaches field engineers and students/interns).
  • Identifies issues on-site or in defined work scopes.
  • Coordinates third-party inspections and site reviews.
  • Participates in crafting, implementing, and supervising quality plan, Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
  • Develop and maintains positive relationships focusing on all partners.
Qualifications
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in a related field: construction management, engineering, architecture preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • 0 to 8-12 months of varied experience as field engineer/coordinator preferred; time acquired during internships in the field may count as experience.
  • Knowledge of construction specifications, and methods and procedures (e.g., formwork methodologies, self-perform work, subcontracted work scopes, temporary work, equipment, and scheduling techniques).
  • Understands and applies construction principles to problem solve.
  • Effective verbal and written communication with supervisors and subcontractors, and reports.
  • Proven track record to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Writes clear technical communication to trade contractors, designers and inspectors.
  • Develops and maintains effective partner relationships.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office Suite and construction related software.

The salary range for this position is between $78,000 and $80,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications. We anticipate this requisition will be open for a minimum of five days, though it may be open for a longer period of time.
