Job summary

Gioia Concrete Construction, Inc. seeks a Field Engineer to lead layout, line/grade planning, and instrument control on commercial/industrial projects in Columbus, OH.

You will use Total Station, robotic total station, and theodolite tools to ensure precise measurements and data integrity. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in field engineering and surveying, solid CAD/Bluebeam data handling skills, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of field engineering, surveying, and layout for large commercial/industrial projects.
• Proficient with Total Station, Robotic Total Station and/or Theodolite.
• Experience using CAD and Bluebeam to prepare layout data files.
• Strong knowledge of Coordinate Geometry and Geometric Functions for layout points.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to lift 50 lbs; and work outdoors in all weather.
• Concrete self-perform experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain permanent control for line and grade on projects.
• Use Total Station and related equipment for layout.
• Prepare layout data files from CAD/Bluebeam drawings.
• Review drawings to ensure accurate dimensions and identify discrepancies.
• Collaborate with Foreman on scheduling and sequencing.
• Deliver layout information to project team for proper execution.
• Record as-builts and perform pre-pour checks.
• Set up and monitor machine control systems for dozers, excavators, and screeds.
• Maintain survey equipment and verify calibration.

General Description:

Field Engineers are incredibly important to the overall success of each project,being responsible forthe planning and layout of the line and grade. The Field Engineer mustpossessthe knowledge and skills necessary for the technical aspect ofline and gradeand layout, as well as the ability to use the advanced instrumentation/Total Station. The Field Engineer is a technical line/grade & layout resource for others.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up andmaintainpermanent control throughout the entire line and gradeportionof the project
• Exercise knowledge and skills to use Total Station, Robotic TotalStationand/or Theodolite equipment
• Prepare layout data files from CAD and Bluebeam drawings for total station and GPS equipment
• Ensureaccuratedimensions by reviewing the architectural and structural drawings prior to execution
• Identifyany discrepancies in drawings prior to execution
• Work alongside the Foreman on the line and gradeportionof the project to ensure proper scheduling and sequencing
• Be proficient with the use of advanced instruments and Total Station to performan accuratelayout
• Deliver layout information to the project team to ensure proper execution
• Record as-builts and perform pre-pour checks of forms, elevations, and embeds
• Set up andmonitormachine control systems for dozers, excavators, and screeds
• Maintain survey equipment and verify calibration accuracy

Requirements:

• Knowledge and skills in the use of the Total Station, Robotic TotalStationand/or Theodolite equipment
• Understanding of data surveying software
• Knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Understanding of Coordinate Geometry Geometric Theory and Geometric Functions Application toestablishsurveying/data/layout points
• 5+ years of experience in field engineering, surveying, and layout for a large-scale Commercial, Self-Perform General Contractor or Concrete Contractor
• Some self-perform experience of concrete
• Experience with a variety of project types with emphasis on Commercial/Industrial
• Knowledge of construction principles/practicesrequiredwith experience on projects over 1 million dollars
• Current valid driver’s license and pre-employment drug screen
• Ability to lift 50lbsand work outdoors in all weather conditions
