Job summary

Onyx Corporation seeks a Field Engineer to support field operations for heavy civil and excavation projects. You will assist project managers, review plans and specs, and help manage quantities, costs, and site activities.

Ideal candidates hold a civil engineering or construction mgmt background with strong reading of plans, communication, and problem-solving skills. Outdoor work in varying weather is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• Construction or field experience preferred; internships considered.
• Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers with daily field operations.
• Review plans, specifications, elevations, grades, and construction details.
• Assist with excavation, grading, drainage, utilities, and sitework activities.
• Track project quantities, production, materials, trucking, and equipment.
• Maintain daily reports, project documentation, photographs, and field records.
• Assist with quantity takeoffs, change orders, and project cost tracking.
• Coordinate with field crews, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and project teams.
• Identify field issues and help develop practical solutions.
• Monitor work for quality, safety, and compliance with project plans.
• Participate in project meetings and assist with scheduling and coordination.

KeyResponsibilities
