Job summary

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) seeks an Electronic Technical Specialist I/II to install, maintain, and troubleshoot ITS equipment and traffic systems from our Orem facility. This entry-to-intermediate role covers field work across Region Three, with outdoor duties, 24‑hour on-call rotations, and a focus on safety and reliability.

You'll work with video cameras, signs, signals, and lighting, using tools like bucket trucks and in-house software.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional electrical/electronics work experience or electronics education.
• IMSA Level I & II certifications or Journeyman Electrician License.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Willing to work on-call and after hours.
• Knowledge of traffic signal technology and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair ITS equipment including video cameras, signs, radar, ramp metering, and signals.
• Perform overhead installations and repairs using bucket trucks.
• Review plans and ensure compliance with IMSA, NEC, MUTCD, OSHA, and UOSH.
• Maintain equipment inventories and use in-house software.
• Provide technical support to staff and respond to inquiries.
