Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Construction Manager to lead electrical and instrumentation construction activities on heavy industrial energy projects in Houston, TX. You will work with the Construction Manager, Project Manager and EPC leadership to drive safety, quality, productivity, schedule performance, and cost control across all phases of construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction, construction management, engineering, or related field; 3 years of relevant construction experience.
• Applicable experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access).
• Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle large volumes of work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Multiple years of experience on construction sites in heavy industrial or energy-related environments, especially electrical/instrumentation within an EPC environment is highly preferred.
• A basic understanding of GAAP.
• Must be able to meet the company's driving requirements.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety programs and collaborate with project team to manage Safety & Health performance.
• Collaborate with Project Management to build client relationships while interfacing with the client for proposals and project items.
• Assist in development of Project Execution Plan, Quality Assurance Plan, Safety & Health Plan, Subcontracting Plan and Procurement Plan.
• Contribute to negotiation, approval and execution of prime contracts, subcontracts, POs and change orders.
• Develop project plans for site mobilization and demobilization and support Construction Manager with implementation.
• Prepare RFPs and support scope development, bid and selection, and contract documents for subcontractor/client selection.
• Support implementation of project specifications, drawing releases, and design changes.
• Execute contract administration: RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, change management and claims mitigation.
• Support cost reporting, scheduling, WBS, project setup and closeout, and field progress tracking.
• Prepare information for and report project status, risks, schedule, costs, and cash flows to stakeholders.
