Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Project Heavy Equipment Operator– Ecological Construction to support ecological restoration projects. This role requires operating multiple heavy machines and interpreting construction plans while adhering to safety standards.

Overnight travel 3 to 4 nights per week is expected for 75 - 80% of the year. The position supports the field implementation of restoration activities, including excavation, grading, erosion control, and native planting.

Qualifications

  • Wetland and stream mitigation/restoration experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings.
  • Knowledge of environmental restoration techniques preferred.
  • Ability to operate Trimble R2 and GPS survey equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform equipment operations on construction projects and coordinate with the Project Superintendent.
  • Operate Excavator, Track Loader, Bulldozer, Off Road Trucks and Skid Steer competently.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors in the field to implement projects.
  • Excavate, grade, place rock, install erosion control, native planting, seeding, and related restoration activities.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and administrative duties as required.
  • Adhere to corporate policies and act in the firm’s best interest.
