Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Project Heavy Equipment Operator- Ecological Construction to implement ecological restoration construction work. Overnight travel 3 to 4 nights per week 75 - 80 % of the year.

Responsibilities include operating heavy equipment and coordinating with the Project Superintendent to ensure quality work. The role requires interpretation of plans, adherence to safety culture, and hands-on field implementation of restoration projects across diverse environments.

Qualifications

• Wetland/restoration experience preferred.
• Ability to understand and interpret construction plans and drawings.
• Knowledge of environmental/ecological restoration techniques preferred.
• Ability to operate a Trimble R2 and other GPS survey equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performing equipment operations for construction projects in the field and work with Project Superintendent to implement projects.
• Be a competent operator on Excavator, Track Loader, Bulldozer, Off Road Trucks and Skid Steer.
• Work with subcontractors in the field.
• Conduct excavation and grading, placement of rock and water structures, native planting, seeding, erosion control installation, mowing, herbicide application and/or any other activities necessary for ecological restoration projects.
• Conduct daily equipment inspections/checks.
• Adhere to corporate policies, operate through proper management channels, and act in the best interest of the firm.
