Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Project Heavy Equipment Operator– Ecological Construction to implement high-quality ecological restoration construction work. The role requires operating heavy equipment, interpreting plans, and traveling 75–80% of the year to project sites.

Ideal candidates will have wetland restoration experience, the ability to read construction drawings, and familiarity with GPS survey gear such as the Trimble R2. This is a full-time, on-site position with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Wetland and stream mitigation/restoration experience (Preferred)
• Ability to understand and interpret construction plans and drawings
• Knowledge of environmental/ecological field restoration techniques (Preferred)
• Ability to operate a Trimble R2 and other GPS survey equipment as necessary (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment operations for construction projects in the field and collaborate with Project Superintendent
• Be a competent operator on Excavator, Track Loader, Bulldozer, Off Road Trucks and Skid Steer
• Coordinate with subcontractors in the field
• Conduct excavation, grading, rock placement, native planting, seeding, erosion control installation and related ecological restoration work
• Conduct daily equipment inspections/checks
• Adhere to corporate policies and manage through proper channels for the firm’s best interest
