Job summary

Ultimate Knowledge Institute seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer who blends software engineering with direct customer engagement. You will write code, build tooling, and automate distributed cloud-native platforms deployed across cloud and on‑prem environments, including secure networks.

You will ship production-grade software, debug failures, and guide customers on GitOps, networking, and IaC best practices, including working in DoD‑like security contexts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as a software engineer (backend or platform).
• Proficiency in at least one modern backend language (TypeScript, Java, Go, Python).
• Hands-on experience deploying Kubernetes workloads in production.
• Experience with GitOps tooling (ArgoCD preferred; Flux acceptable).
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Helm, and/or Kustomize).
• Ability to troubleshoot distributed systems (containers, API failures, microservices).
• Familiarity with CNI plugins (Calico, Cilium, Multus).
• Strong networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls, proxies).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• Automation scripting (Bash, Shell, Python).

Responsibilities

• Ship code, build tooling, and write automation for customer environments.
• Debug distributed-system failures in real world deployments.
• Assist customers with GitOps, networking, and IaC best practices.
• Collaborate with customer teams to gather requirements and constraints.
• Work in secure, regulated, or on‑prem environments when needed.
