Job summary

UKI is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer who writes code and ships distributed cloud-native systems. You will embed with customer teams, deploy across cloud and on-prem environments, and solve complex operational challenges in secure environments. Proficiency in Kubernetes, GitOps, and IaC is required.

You will collaborate with DoD/GovCloud contexts, balance practical delivery with architecture tradeoffs, and travel to Orlando, FL as needed for customer engagements and planning events.

Qualifications

• 5+ years professional software engineering experience (backend/platform).
• Proficiency in a modern backend language (TypeScript, Java, Go, Python).
• Hands-on Kubernetes deployments in production.
• Experience with GitOps tooling (ArgoCD preferred; Flux acceptable).
• Infrastructure as code using Terraform, Helm, or Kustomize.
• Troubleshoot distributed systems: containers, API failures, service communication, networking issues.
• Familiarity with CNI plugins (Calico/Cilium/Multus).
• Strong networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls).
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Automation scripting in Bash/Shell/Python.

Responsibilities

• Ship code, build tooling, and write automation for distributed systems.
• Deploy, adapt, and operate platform in cloud and on-prem environments.
• Engage with customer teams and troubleshoot in secure/regulated environments.
• Provide technical leadership on GitOps, networking, and infrastructure-as-code.
