Job summary

Glass Roots Construction (GRC) is seeking a high-performing Construction Manager to lead underground fiber optic utility projects from inception to completion in the Uvalde, Texas area. You will drive project profitability, nurture client relationships, and ensure safety and operational excellence on site.

You will report to the Director of Operations and work with field teams, supervisors, and stakeholders to meet project goals and safety standards.

Qualifications

3 years’ experience working with and around directional drilling crews in utility construction.
Proven supervisory experience.
Ability to work with Environmental Monitors, DOT/OSHA, municipalities and other stakeholders.
Strong understanding of utility construction practices and terminology; ability to read and interpret drawings.
Direct experience with utility locating systems.
Strong computer skills and data management.

Responsibilities

Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day construction activities of a fiber optic utility network.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure safe and quality construction practices with internal and subcontract crews.
Field Engagement: Work in the field with crews 100% of the day.
Field Verification: Verify progress using a utility locator for depths and offsets.
Data Collection: Collect pictures and bore logs to support QC requirements.
Quality Assurance: Apply quality metrics to ensure project meets specs.
Flexibility: Willingness to work night shifts on a rotation basis.
