Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. is hiring a Distribution Technician II to perform field data collection on overhead and underground electrical distribution facilities within our Power Distribution Engineering team.

The role requires visiting work sites, recording detailed specifications, and coordinating with contractors. Strong communication, attention to detail, and a 70% field workload are essential; valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of related electric utility experience.
• Demonstrated communication skills with internal/external clients.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to self-check work.
• Experience working with customers and contractors in person and by phone.
• Proficient with standard workplace software tools (Microsoft Office).
• Ability to work in the field ~70% of the time.
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Log all completed work on poles using Oncor’s standardized Excel spreadsheet.
• Record essential details: start/completion dates, pole specs, transformer actions, and notes.
• Visit work points in person to verify work or review contractor photos.
• Manage and track multiple circuits/feeders and review weekly.
• Adapt to FCC workflows, reviewing spreadsheets or photos as needed.
• Provide general FCC support including minor tasks and file pulling from Maximo.
• Ensure spreadsheet work is up to date before other duties.
• Maintain clear communication with contractor and FCC for timely completion.
