Job summary

MasTec Utility Services is seeking a Diesel Field Mechanic to maintain and repair heavy equipment and vehicles on-site and at the garage location. This role supports construction teams across field and shop environments.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and at least 3 years of mechanic experience, with skills in diesel, diagnostics, safety standards, and basic wiring. Opportunities for growth and on-site work are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• 3 years of Mechanic experience.
• Knowledge of vehicle and equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics.
• Knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures.
• Ability to do tune-ups, brake jobs (hydraulic), and basic wiring.
• Basic diesel and drive train experience.
• Ability to use cutting torch and basic welding skills.
• Knowledge of minor heavy equipment repairs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair company equipment, such as pickup trucks, line trucks, trailers, mini excavators, backhoes, compressors, and generators, in a safe, timely, and cost effective manner in the field and garage.
• Perform road tests and operational checks of vehicles and equipment to ensure quality of repairs and service.
• Place orders for required parts, materials and supplies, as required.
• Prepare and maintain records and reports.
• Monitor prioritized projects, activities, and assignments to ensure completion of deadlines.
• Maintain tools, supplies, and workstations in a clean, safe and presentable manner.
• Provide support and training for Mechanics on the team.
• Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
