Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Field Diesel Mechanic (Field Service Tech II) to maintain and repair complex rental equipment safely and professionally. You will travel to customer sites, support the Service Department, and provide exceptional customer service while growing toward leadership roles.

The role emphasizes hands-on maintenance of diesel, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, with opportunities for career development and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• 1–2 years of experience repairing/maintaining vehicles and equipment; or trade school graduate.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines.
• Must own tools applicable to position.

Responsibilities

• Safe maintenance and repair of complex rental equipment (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems).
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance; maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner.
• Assist in training lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work orders daily.
• Assist with pickup and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Other duties as needed.
