Job summary

Luminous Robotics, Inc. in Boston seeks a Deployment Software Engineer for its Software Testing team. You will test cutting-edge software and hardware at solar construction sites, installing and commissioning hardware with site crews, and training operators for day-to-day use.

Ideal candidates have CS/Robotics/Engineering background, C++/Python fluency, and experience with robotics middleware; willingness to travel and work outdoors at remote sites is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Robotics, Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Proficiency in C++ and/or Python to contribute production code.
• Able to read/edit on-site scripts and config files to set parameters.
• Willing to travel domestically and internationally; work outdoors.
• Valid driver's license and passport; independent work style.
• Bonus: ROS/ROS2 or other robotics middleware.

Responsibilities

• Travel extensively (over 50%) to solar construction sites across the US, with occasional international travel.
• Support on-site installation, commissioning, and construction of solar modules and LUMI hardware alongside site crews.
• Act as field test pilot for beta software/firmware releases and verify against test protocols on deployed units.
• Set and adjust robot operating parameters on-site; troubleshoot hardware/software issues in real time with remote team.
• Train site operators and customer personnel on safe and effective robot operation and basic maintenance.
• Where possible, contribute code that runs on real hardware with the team (behaviors, UI, navigation, SLAM).
• Support deployments and live demonstrations for prospective customers.
• Report anomalies with technical detail for engineering action.
