gFiber is seeking a Special Projects Deployment Engineer to travel to regional markets and turn raw spaces into fully operational network nodes. You will be on the road, installing routers, switches, firewalls, and PDUs, and you’ll work hands-on to build out critical infrastructure.

You’ll perform structured cabling, verify power and cooling, run site acceptance tests, diagnose field issues, and use OTDRs and fiber meters to fix faults.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 2 years of independent field experience in high-pressure environments.
• Ability to travel up to 60–75% domestically.
• Must hold a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs of networking equipment, climb ladders, and work in tight server rooms or telecom closets.

Responsabilités

• Rack & Stack: physically install, mount, and secure network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, PDUs).
• Structured cabling: copper and fiber installations with proper labeling and cable management.
• Power & environmental verification: check power redundancy and cooling alignment before energizing hardware.
• Site acceptance testing: run tests to verify throughput, power levels, and failover paths.
• Field diagnosis: act as the primary technical point of failure resolution when remote teams lose connectivity.
• Optical layer testing: use OTDRs and fiber meters to diagnose and fix optical issues.
