Job summary

gFiber is seeking a Special Projects Deployment Engineer to travel to regional markets and turn raw spaces into fully operational network nodes. This role is critical for execution and troubleshooting on the ground.

You'll physically install, rack & stack hardware, perform structured cabling, verify power and cooling, and conduct site acceptance testing before handing the site to the NOC. A proactive, hands-on problem solver will thrive in this fast-paced field environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of independent field experience in high-pressure environments.
• Experience with TCP/IP, VLAN tagging, subnetting, DHCP, and basic routing.
• Willingness to travel domestically up to 60–75% and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in tight server rooms or telecom closets.

Responsibilities

• Physically install, mount, and secure networking hardware at regional sites.
• Perform structured cabling for copper and fiber with proper labeling.
• Verify power, cooling, and redundancy before powering hardware.
• Run site acceptance tests and document outcomes for NOC handover.
• Diagnose field issues and coordinate with remote teams to restore connectivity.
• Use OTDRs and power meters to locate fiber issues and validate optics.
