Job summary

Marion County Assessor's Office seeks an inspector/data collector for commercial and industrial field assessments in Marion County. You will ensure accurate measurement, data collection, and timely input into the property tax database to support assessment decisions.

Role requires knowledge of Indiana law and IAAO standards, independent judgment under supervision, and coordination with multiple departments to resolve discrepancies and assist taxpayers while meeting confidentiality and safety

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of related experience.
DLGF Level II Assessor/Appraiser certification or willingness to earn within 6 months.
Knowledge of construction terminology.
Strong project management, computer and communication skills.
Experience with imaging systems and related software.
Ability to assist customers professionally in person, by email, or by phone.
Valid Indiana Driver’s License.
Attention to detail and ability to type and edit reports.

Responsibilities

Inspect, collect data, record, and analyze field assessments in Marion County.
Ensure field information is accurately entered into the property tax database in a timely manner.
Read site plans and construction blueprints for commercial and industrial parcels.
Coordinate with GIS, permit, zoning, and other agencies as required.
Schedule and prioritize routing and workloads of parcels.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Interact with taxpayers to gain access and resolve discrepancies.
