Job summary

Education Development Center (EDC) is seeking 5 part-time Data-Collectors (Casual I) to administer tablet-based assessments to kindergarten and first grade students in several study sites, including Portland, Oregon. Travel locally/regionally is required, with total hours 100–200 per year per site and 15–20 hours weekly during key windows.

Requires bachelor’s degree, training in human subjects and child assessment, and willingness to pass background checks.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication, initiative, and flexibility; ability to work independently and as part of a research team.
• Comfort in school settings administering assessments to young children.

Responsibilities

• Participate in study orientation meetings and trainings.
• Become a reliable assessment administrator.
• Undergo required background checks and fingerprinting.
• Complete required CITI research ethics course.
• Travel locally/regionally to elementary schools within study sites.
• Travel costs (mileage) reimbursed for up to one hour commuting distance.
• Conduct assessments with kindergarten and first grade students.
• Complete data entry and notes within 24 hours of data collection.
• Communicate effectively with teachers and school staff about visits.
• Coordinate with study team leaders to follow data collection protocols.
