Job summary

Bayer in Jerseyville, Illinois is seeking a Research and Development Specialist III to join the Field-Testing Team within Plant Biotechnology and Crop Science. The role focuses on planning and executing physiology experiments in the field, data collection, and supervision of temporary staff.

Responsibilities include coordinating with project teams, ensuring safety standards, and driving data delivery to support next-generation trait development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or degree completed by December 2026 in Crop Physiology, Agronomy, Plant Science, Biology or related fields.
• Field-based research experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to carry out field-based research during peak planting, flowering and harvest seasons.
• Familiarity with row-crop production and farm equipment operation.
• Strong data handling and MS Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a broad range of field operations including seeding, staging plant development, data collection and harvest operations.
• Supervision and training of temporary employees.
• Coordination with Project Teams and other research sites for high-quality execution of crop physiology experiments.
• Contribute to planning and rationalization of experiments with project teams.
• Work with Data Team to ensure accurate and timely data delivery.
• Contribute to data quality control and integrity.
• Operate specialized research equipment related to Crop Physiology experiments.
• Ensure activities comply with Safety and Compliance standards.
• Position may require driving a company vehicle and potentially >5,000 business miles annually.
