Job summary

The Washington State Department of Ecology's Washington Conservation Corps is seeking Crew Supervisor 1 positions to lead field crews in Olympic region. This project role focuses on supervision, safety, and habitat restoration across multiple counties.

Successful candidates will supervise recruitment, plan tasks, track projects, ensure compliance, complete required paperwork, and drive state vehicles. In-person field work, variable terrain, and long hours are expected.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience equivalent to WCC field work, young adult mentorship, or leadership (e.g., outdoor leadership, crew lead, coordinating field activities).
• Two-year Forest Technology Vocational Program plus 1 year field experience with WCC or disaster response experience.
• Associate degree in Environmental Science or Studies, Forestry, or closely related field plus 1 year field experience with WCC or disaster response.
• Qualifying military experience can substitute year-for-year for field experience.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, interview, and select new crew members; review, plan and assign work tasks for crew members.
• Evaluate crew member performance and provide feedback; outline expectations for professional growth; document performance issues.
• Track and complete conservation projects; monitor materials, tools, and equipment; communicate progress with sponsor and WCC staff; assign tasks.
• Submit required paperwork (timesheets, travel logs, safety reports, etc.); ensure equipment is used safely and maintained.
• Drive and maintain state-owned/leased vehicles; may include four-wheel drive pickups.
