Job summary

City of Winston-Salem is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to manage field crews and oversee maintenance of municipal vehicles and equipment. Under immediate supervision, you will organize tasks, assign crews and ensure efficient operations.

Responsibilities include supervising crew activities, performing minor repairs, keeping vehicle records, preparing reports and training staff. A valid Class B CDL upon hire is required and work is performed on-site in Winston-Salem, NC.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of principles and practices of operations and servicing trucks and related equipment.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions; mechanical aptitude, ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
• Ability to assign and supervise the work of others and the ability to prepare simple reports.
• Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Drivers License upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and participates in the work of unskilled and semi-skilled workers, Vehicle Operators and Sr. Equipment Operators.
• Oversees large crews in the collection of brush, leaves and bulky items; provides instruction and inspects work in progress.
• Performs minor vehicle and equipment repairs in the field; maintains vehicle records and requisitions parts and materials.
• Prepares reports, trains and instructs personnel, assists with evaluations and disciplinary actions.
