City of Winston-Salem is seeking an intermediate skilled trades worker to perform sewer maintenance, respond to sewer-related issues, and oversee a crew under the Utilities Supervisor. The role involves operating sewer jets and vac trucks, performing inspections, and maintaining records and reports for multiple departments.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in construction or maintenance, strong safety practices, and the ability to lead semi-skilled staff while meeting public-facing

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of industry policies, practices, and procedures.
• Ability to lead a crew and establish effective relationships with the public.
• Familiarity with office software and computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Join Sewer First Response Crew or Sewer Cleaning Crew.
• Remove blockages and wash sewer pipes.
• Supervise and train assigned staff for tasks.
• Set up safe work zones and ensure protective equipment.
• Enter work information and file regulatory reports including SSO.
• Perform pre-trip inspections and routine maintenance on equipment.
