Job summary

MGX Equipment Services in Ankeny, Iowa is seeking Field Crane Technicians responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of various crane equipment.

This full-time role offers a pay range of $24.00 - $60.00 per hour, a $4,500 sign-on bonus after 90 days, and a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k) starting on the first day. A training path will be outlined for career advancement within the first week.

Job Description

MGX Field Crane Technicians are responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of various crane equipment including mobile cranes and boom trucks. This position will be located at the Lee's Summit branch for MGX Equipment Services and reports to the Service Manager.

Benefits and Compensation

Candidates hired for this role will receive a $4,500 sign‑on bonus, payable after 90 days continuous service. They will be eligible for our Tool Reimbursement Program of up to $1,500 per calendar year. Relocation assistance may also be available to those who qualify. This position offers a pay range between $24.00 - $60.00 per hour depending on skills and qualifications. Pay is provided bi‑weekly. A customized training plan and career path is identified for each technician within the first week of employment.

Essential Job Functions
  • Light diagnosis, repair and troubleshooting of various mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes.
  • Capable of accomplishing tasks independently without direct supervision.
  • Perform thorough and accurate annual inspections.
  • Properly fill out working reports, hours reports, time sheets, hours overviews and expense reports.
  • Provides excellent customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Crane Mechanic/Technician preferred.
  • Must have a mechanical background and related experience with electrical and hydraulics; and be able to read both electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Must have experience in preventative maintenance and light equipment repair (i.e. oil changes, brake jobs, etc.).
  • May be required to travel to job sites and for training up to 50% of the time.
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer/client focus.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Experience working with different forms of mobile crane and/or heavy equipment is a plus.

Working Conditions

This is a full‑time position with typical working hours between 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Overtime and weekend work may be possible based on business conditions. The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position requires work in an environment exposed to elements such as extreme temperatures and various weather conditions, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Pay & Training

This position offers a pay range between $24.00 - $60.00 per hour depending on skills and qualifications. Pay is provided on a bi‑weekly basis and there are 14 days in the pay period, beginning on a Monday and ending on a Sunday. A customized training plan and career path is identified for each technician and provided within the first week of employment, outlining growth and advancement opportunities.
