Job summary

Hensel Phelps in Columbus, OH is seeking an Assistant Construction Superintendent to oversee field operations, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time project delivery. You will work with the Construction Superintendent and project team to keep craft supervision, scheduling, and material handling aligned with company standards.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, 5 years of industry experience, and proficiency with MS Office and project management

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field.
• Five (5) years’ experience in construction management or a related field required.
• Professional accreditations desirable.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to function as part of a high‑performance team.
• Excellent working knowledge of construction methods, facilities operations and building systems.
• Familiarity with strategic planning.
• Ability to work collaboratively in mobile work environment.
• Software proficiency in MS Office 365 (Excel, Project, Word, SharePoint) and Adobe Suite) and report writing applications.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety is incorporated into job planning and execution by enforcing policies.
• Create AHAs/STAs with Foreman for all self‑performed work.
• Review AHAs for trade partners.
• Create material handling and site utilization plans.
• Coordinate with Project Coordinator on material needs, RFIs, etc.
• Engage in project scheduling activities and maintain a four‑week project schedule.
• Coordinate and supervise company workforce in area.
• Facilitate scheduling of trade partners with foremen during weekly meetings.
• Maintain timekeeping, project logs, and cost records.
• Ensure material receiving is inspected and properly signed/coded.
• Responsible for all quality control on the project.
