Job summary

Alta E&I in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Construction Materials Special Inspector to verify field work on active projects, ensure compliance with building codes, and document findings clearly for project teams. This field-based role requires travel within the local area, strong technical judgment, and the ability to read plans while coordinating with contractors, engineers, and clients.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in Construction Technology, Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in construction materials testing or special inspections.
• Candidates with 5+ years may be considered for Senior Special Inspector.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable MVR.
• Ability to pass background check and drug test.
• Must have one Special Inspector’s ICC, ACI, and ATTI.

Responsibilities

• Perform special inspections and materials testing per project specs and codes.
• Inspect structural systems and materials incl. reinforced concrete, masonry, post-tensioned concrete, soils.
• Read, interpret, and apply drawings, plans, specifications, and codes.
• Document field observations, test results, and inspection findings in daily reports.
• Notify Project Manager of non-conforming work or issues requiring review.
• Travel locally to active construction sites; occasional overnight travel.
• Maintain equipment and ensure safety compliance.
