Job summary

Alta E&I is seeking a Construction Materials Special Inspector to serve as the client’s field representative on active projects in Tempe, AZ. You will perform inspections, testing, and observations to ensure compliance with codes and project specifications.

The role requires independent field work, strong judgment, and clear documentation. Travel within the local area and occasional overnight stays may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level not required; HS diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree preferred in construction or civil tech.
• Minimum 2–4 years in construction materials testing or inspections.
• Senior level possible with 5+ years.
• Must have valid driver's license and pass pre-employment checks.
• Must hold at least one Special Inspector ICC/ACI/ATTI credential.

Responsibilities

• Perform special inspections and testing per project specs and codes.
• Inspect structural systems and materials (concrete, masonry, soil, etc.).
• Read and interpret drawings, plans, specs, and codes.
• Document field observations and test results in reports.
• Notify Project Manager of non-conforming work or issues.
• Communicate professionally with contractors and clients.
• Follow safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
• Travel locally; occasional overnight travel as needed.
