Job summary

Alta E&I in Tempe, AZ seeks a Construction Materials Special Inspector to serve as a field representative, ensuring tests and inspections meet codes and project specs. You will work independently on active sites, documenting observations and results for engineering review.

The role requires strong technical knowledge, effective communication with contractors and clients, and the ability to travel locally with occasional overnight stays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree preferred in Construction Technology, Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 2–4 years of experience in construction materials testing or special inspections.
• Must have one Special Inspector’s ICC, ACI, and ATTI certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform special inspections and construction materials testing per project specs and codes.
• Inspect structural systems and materials such as reinforced concrete, masonry, post-tensioned concrete, soils.
• Read and apply construction drawings, plans, specs, and codes.
• Document field observations and test results with detailed reports.
• Notify Project Manager of non-conforming work or issues needing engineering review.
• Travel primarily throughout the local area with possible overnight trips.
