Job summary

Suffolk Construction in Los Angeles seeks an experienced Superintendent to lead day-to-day on-site activities, coordinate trade partners, and ensure safety and quality standards.

You will manage field teams, align the schedule with the Project Manager, document progress, and communicate issues promptly to keep projects on time and within budget. The role demands proactive leadership on complex commercial builds.

Responsibilities

• Oversee, manage, and document all day-to-day job site activities including OSHA safety compliance
• Direct field personnel according to the project plan and Suffolk supervisory principles
• Communicate issues, events, performance, and progress daily to the Project Manager
• Report any problems promptly to the Project Manager to facilitate the most cost-effective solutions
• Establish effective working relationships with clients and Suffolk team members
• Request advice and assistance from the General Superintendent on matters pertaining to materials, sequencing, scheduling and personnel
• Identify pre-mobilization activities and develop start-up schedule with Project Manager
• Assist in formulating and implementing construction schedules in the field
• Establish and implement the Project Baseline Schedule and maintain it in line with contract requirements
• Update Project Schedule monthly and provide two-week look ahead reports
• Ensure subcontractors participate in safety meetings and maintain safety documents
• Review safety and quality inspections and ensure adherence to project plans
• Mobilize the field office and manage site documentation and subcontractor performance
• Attend project meetings including turnover, safety, weekly foreman, and coordination meetings
• Maintain daily reports and shop drawings; manage material deliveries and logs
