Job summary

Gaylor Electric, Inc. is seeking a motivated Construction Layout Technician/Construction Surveyor to join our team in Indianapolis, Indiana.

You will perform electrical construction layout using robotic total stations and GNSS equipment on large-scale commercial and industrial projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with engineered plans. Responsibilities include field layout, staking, as-built data collection, and coordinating with project management and field teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong math background and ability to perform surveying calculations.
• Experience reading and interpreting construction plans and specs.

Responsibilities

• Interpret engineered drawings and layouts for electrical construction.
• Operate Trimble GPS, total station data collectors with minimal supervision.
• Collect as-built survey data and maintain accurate records.
• Report to assigned job sites and coordinate with field operations.
• Follow safety requirements and work outdoors on active sites.
• Provide work control lines and elevations for installation accuracy.
