Job summary

MoDOT’s Clinton Project Office is seeking a construction intern to inspect routine construction items and verify conformance to plans and contracts. The role involves supervision, field measurements, and documentation under moderate supervision.

Responsibilities include coordinating inspections, leading surveying tasks, and preparing estimates and reports. Applicants must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited program, with GPA requirements and coursework toward their degree.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in ABET-accredited bachelor's or post-bachelor's degree program full-time (12+ credit hours).
• 30 credit hours completed/accepted toward current degree program; degree transcript must be shown to apply.
• GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and perform construction inspections verifying that contractors' activities are in compliance with contracts, specifications, and engineering principles.
• Perform duties of inspector in charge of routine construction items, including asphalt and concrete paving, bridges, culverts, and utility adjustments.
• Prepare final plans, change orders, contractor payment estimates, and engineering costs with measurements and computations.
• Maintain construction documentation, records and files; prepare progress and other reports; inform supervisor of activities or issues.
• Provide field checks for contractor surveying operations; lead layout and staking tasks as needed.
• Perform lead worker responsibilities: instruct, assign, review, coach, and assist staffing decisions.
