Job summary

Weston & Sampson is seeking a Construction Inspector to oversee utility and infrastructure projects in Suffern, NY. The role offers professional growth within a team of engineers and 1,000+ employee-owners.

You will review contracts, perform SWPPP inspections, verify drawings, and maintain field records while coordinating with clients, contractors, and municipal staff. A valid driver's license and weather flexibility are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of erosion control inspections and related work.
• Experience with general construction inspection policies and procedures.
• Experience working with Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Word/Excel is highly preferred.
• Ability to interpret contract documents and ensure safety regulatory compliance.
• Ability to prepare and maintain electronic field records efficiently.
• Ability to work well with contractors, municipality, and residents.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and time management.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Willingness to work in inclement weather.

Responsibilities

• Review of contract documents and construction management requirements to identify and report degree of compliance.
• Complete SWPPP inspections and reports.
• Confirm compliance of drawings; measure quantities and observe construction quality; prepare daily field records; report non-compliance.
• Review and evaluate Contractor’s work schedules with the Project Manager.
• Coordinate with client, contract administration and engineers; attend regular site meetings.
• Maintain positive relationships with municipal staff and contractors.
• Overtime may be required; local travel is expected.
