Actalent, a global engineering services provider, is seeking an entry-mid level Engineering Technician for field-based construction materials testing in the Cary, NC area. The role includes outdoor site work, documentation, and collaboration with engineers and project teams.

The position offers full-time hours, training, and opportunities to earn industry credentials such as CMT and ACI as experience grows. Compensation aligns with market rates for the region and experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Comfort working outdoors at varied sites and weather.
• Ability to lift and move testing equipment and materials.
• Strong communication to interact with contractors and engineers.
• Attention to detail in recording observations and test results.
• Reliable, professional with a desire to grow in the field.
• Open to pursuing CMT/ACI credentials as you gain experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing and inspections on active construction sites under guidance.
• Test soil, concrete, and asphalt to verify quality and compliance.
• Conduct soil density and concrete testing using established procedures.
• Document field observations and results clearly and accurately.
• Communicate with site team, engineers, and project managers.
• Follow safety procedures around heavy equipment and sites.
• Assist in equipment setup, transport, and calibration.
• Pursue industry certifications as experience grows.
