Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks a Construction Observer to join our Land Development team. The role conducts on-site observations of site infrastructure for residential and commercial developments, ensuring compliance with plans and standards.

The candidate will evaluate erosion control, grading, utilities, paving, and review testing reports, while preparing weekly summaries and reviewing monthly pay applications. 3–5 years of relevant experience preferred.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in residential and commercial construction observation.
• Strong technical expertise as it relates to construction activities.
• Experience with local city standards and specifications.
• Must be able to read, analyze and interpret construction plans.
• Familiarity with grading, utility and street construction.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office to create weekly reports.
• Experience in reviewing pay applications.

Responsibilities

• Will conduct on-site observations of construction activities related to site infrastructure installation to serve residential and commercial developments.
• Evaluating erosion control.
• Observing site grading activities
• Observing utility construction activities such as water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer installation
• Observing paving construction
• Reviewing testing reports
• Ensuring the contractors are constructing improvements in accordance to the City standards and specifications and construction plans
• Preparing weekly construction summary reports.
• Reviewing monthly contractor pay applications.
