Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking a Construction Inspector III or IV to inspect and document construction activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications and TxDOT standards. The role collaborates with engineers, contractors, utilities and stakeholders to support safe, quality infrastructure delivery in Texas.

The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented with strong technical knowledge, good judgment and effective communication.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.
• Construction Inspector III: 2 years of experience in construction, construction inspection, engineering support, maintenance and repairs, materials or process inspection; or transportation engineering support related experience.
• Construction Inspector IV: 3 years of experience in construction, construction inspection, engineering support, maintenance and repairs, materials or process inspection; or transportation engineering support related experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversees inspection of construction methods and workmanship to ensure contractors build roadways, bridges and related structures in accordance with plans and specifications.
• Trains others and may lead the work of professional and technical employees.
• Documents work progress and issues arising throughout scope of project; coordinates with project teams.
