Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks a Construction Inspector to support professional engineers and technicians in field inspection. Responsibilities include inspecting work, documenting with diaries and reports, and maintaining project data in DOTD systems.

Training and ongoing education are part of the role. Work hours 7:45 am to 4:15 pm, with appointment options and premium pay details.

Qualifications

• Assist professional engineers and higher level technicians in construction inspection.
• Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Participate in DOTD training and continuing education classes.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction work for compliance with policies, standards, specs and plans.
• Complete field diaries, reports and estimates.
• Enter and maintain project data in DOTD systems.
• Apply engineering policies while working in office and at sites.
• Serve as primary construction inspector in assigned areas.
• Determine material sampling requirements and verify materials and elevations.
