Job summary

Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts seeks a Construction Inspector to perform field inspections ensuring quality and safety on sewer and drainage projects. You will interpret codes, review submittals, and maintain daily logs while coordinating with contractors and agencies on diverse site activities.

The role involves inspecting excavation, sewer pipes, manholes, and concrete structures, with progression through Inspector I–III levels based on experience and certifications.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of construction or construction inspection experience
• ACI Concrete Field Technician Grade 1 Certificate must be obtained within the first 6 months of appointment
• College coursework in Construction Technology may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis

Responsibilities

• Attend pre-construction meetings.
• Interpret and explain relevant codes, ordinances, regulations and District standards.
• Receive and review approved submittals.
• Keep a daily log of construction activities and prepare status reports.
• Interact with contractors, engineers, and the public; coordinate inspection activities.
• Inspect trench excavation and sewer pipe installation and manholes.
• Inspect reinforced concrete structures for conformance with plans, specs, and safety orders.
